Brad and Jess recently made the move into their second Gleeson home at Firbeck Fields in Langold, upsizing just a few doors down from their first home on the same development.

Having originally purchased a two‑bedroom Mayfield in 2023 for £169,995, the couple fell in love with both their home and the community around them. But as life progressed, including getting engaged in 2025, they began thinking about their next step on the property ladder.

“We absolutely adored our Mayfield. We loved the estate and really didn’t want to leave the area, we just wanted a little bit more space,” they explained. “So, when this plot became available, we jumped at the chance.”

In January 2026, Brad and Jess reserved their new four‑bedroom Carlow, priced at £279,995, and moved in just two months later. With monthly mortgage repayments of £1,225.04, the Carlow offered everything they were looking for, from extra living space to a plot surrounded by open space and wildlife.

“We were desperate to be able to host family and friends, and we’re so thankful that we can now do that” they said. “We also feel comfortable knowing we now also have space to expand our family in the future, should we wish to.”

A key reason the move was so straightforward was thanks to Gleeson’s Part Exchange scheme, which allowed the couple to sell their original Gleeson home to Gleeson for £167,000 and buy their new one without the hassle sometimes associated with selling.

“We used Gleeson’s Part Exchange scheme, and it made the whole process so easy,” Brad and Jess shared. “We didn’t have to worry at all about selling our previous home and were free to stay in it right up until completion day. It took away so much stress.”

The buying journey itself was another standout part of their experience. “Through both house purchases, Gleeson has been amazing,” they said. “Shelly Wall at Firbeck Fields was so incredibly helpful with moving into our Carlow, she really did everything in her power to make our dream a reality.”

Brad works as a Biodiversity Officer for a local government authority, while Jess is an Animal Behaviour and Welfare Team Leader, so sustainability and wildlife were important factors when choosing their next home. “Our plot overlooks a SUDS pond which has had a variety of nesting waterfowl over the last year,” they explained. “We also see lots of bats and garden birds. Being surrounded by wildlife and open space is something we’ve always dreamed of, but never thought we’d be able to afford.”

They’ve made full use of the wildflower seeds and bug hotel from their welcome pack and love how connected their home feels to nature. “We’re both very passionate about wildlife and sustainability, especially with Brad’s career being centred around it. It’s amazing to see that reflected in where we live.”

Since moving in, the couple have wasted no time making memories in their new home, including hosting their first Easter dinner, a successful trial run for Christmas Day.

“The community here is open and welcoming,” they added. “We have a social media group which has been really helpful when moving in, especially to get advice and recommendations from people who’ve already been through the process.”

Having bought their Carlow as a completed home, it already included several optional extras, including full flooring throughout and a double garage with electricity, making the move‑in process even smoother. Alongside Part Exchange, Gleeson also covered their stamp duty and legal fees, helping make the move even more affordable.

When asked whether they would recommend buying a Gleeson home, the answer was an easy yes.

“We loved our first Gleeson home so much that we bought another just around the corner,” Brad and Jess said. “When comparing Gleeson to other developers, the value for money was incredible. The sales advisors and site team are so helpful, both during the buying process and after moving in.”

And their advice to anyone considering a new home with Gleeson? “Pop into the sales centre and have a chat with the team. They’re incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely want the best for you. Shelly went above and beyond for us and was such an integral part of making our dream home a reality.
